... like a snow buttercup ...
… like a snow
buttercup …
(From ‘Science Fictions')
SATB (a cappella)
Programme Note
We look towards the sun, like a snow buttercup looks towards the sun.
This poetic statement, written by the composer, is the sole text for this choral work (from his collection Science Fictions for choir). The sentence relates to a heliotropic flower found in the Himalayas, the head of which follows the path of the sun throughout the day to gather as much energy as it can, before the star disappears and the terrain becomes harsh and bare in the darkness.
...like a snow buttercup... was premiered by Crouch End Festival Chorus, at St. James Church, 14/5/15.
