Warp and weft
Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano
Programme Note
Warp and Weft are terms used in the process of fabric making. Warp is the lengthwise or longitudinal thread in a roll, while weft is the transverse thread.
They are used in conjunction to create a strong cloth on a loom, harnessing the tension it provides. Warp can also mean ‘that which is thrown across’.
Warp and Weft was premiered by The Composer’s Ensemble in the Great Hall, Dartington as part of the Dartington Festival 2013
