Programme Note

String Quartet No.2 is a piece that deals in diminishing factors. Three lines become two, then one. Four players merge into a singular being. Fast propels us into slow.

The piece consists of three movements which run continuously and are titled;-

I. Frantic, Dizzying, Maverick, Manic
II. Floating, Lilting
III. Subdued, Aftershock, Twitchy, Sombre

StringQuartet No. 2 was premiered by the Artesean Quartet, to whom it is dedicated, at the Royal Academy of Music, 24/4/15.
